The establishment of the University of the Russian Academy of Education (URAE) - the former title was Russia's Open University ( ROU) - would have been impossible had it not been for the changes which have taken place in this country.

During these years the world has changed, and so has our country.

Neither has URAE remained unchanged. The University enters a new Millennium as a unique international humanitarian university, with a competent scientific and educational centre. The University is a young, dynamic and rapidly developing educational establishment which comprises 11 academic departments with the main campus being in Moscow and fourteen regional branches located throughout Russia.

The University has various contacts with prestigious foreign associations such as IREX, The United States Information Agency, the Fulbright Foundation, the American Cultural Center, The British Council and others.

The enrollment at URAE presently stands at 15,000. Admission to the University is based on entrance examinations.
